Ace Norton

Ace Norton is an Asian American director and artist from Venice, California, and a third-generation filmmaker. He works across music video, advertising, fashion, and film, and also draws, sculpts, and takes commissions for installations and photography. As a teenager he was already writing and directing dozens of award-winning short films. After studying film production at USC, he co-founded the production company Commondeer Films with fellow students and was soon signed by international production companies including Partizan, Prettybird, Solab, and JOJX. Over nearly two decades he has directed campaigns for brands such as Lexus, Coca-Cola, Adidas, Gucci, Samsung, and Vans, plus music videos for Foster the People, Jennifer Lopez, Death Cab for Cutie, and Norah Jones. Highsnobiety named him one of the ten best directors working today. His video "Hustler" for Simian Mobile Disco won Video of the Year at the ViMus Music Video Awards and appears on NME's list of the 100 greatest music videos of all time. His work for Death Cab for Cutie earned a Grammy nomination, and he won Best Film and Best Director at the Milan Fashion Film Festival. He has served as jury president at the Off Film Festival in Venice, Italy, and has given keynotes at LAMVF and in Berlin. Away from work, he surfs, cooks, and travels.
